TOOLS AND THERAPIES

Physiotherapy management involves the integration of different METHODS AND APPROACHES with physical therapies or with special tools such as neuromuscular percussion devices and hooks for myofibrolysis.

The rehabilitation process hardly makes use of these treatments exclusively, even if they nevertheless offer an important contribution in the management of pain and inflammation, especially in cases where restrictions or inability to move are foreseen, such as in the presence of fractures or in the outcome of surgical interventions.

Tecar therapy

Tecar is an innovative therapy that uses the production of endogenous heat for the treatment of trauma and musculoskeletal pathologies. The heat, generated by the movement of electrical charges, stimulates the repair processes and induces an anti-inflammatory and analgesic action.

Biological effects: biostimulant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, decontracting, vasodilator.

RESISTIVE METHOD

The resistive method is performed with non-insulated electrodes and the treatment of highly resistant tissues is indicated: bone tissue, cartilage, tendonitis, ligaments, bands and fibrotic tissues. With this method it is possible to precisely focus the therapeutic action on a given part of the body by appropriately positioning the electrodes: the therapeutic action will in fact develop along the path of the current between the electrodes.

Indications: deep and localized treatments of the joint structures and tendon muscles.

CAPACITIVE METHOD

The Capacitive Method uses plate and insulated electrode to treat tissues with low resistance to current: skin tissue, connective tissue, circulatory system, lymphatic system. The isolated active electrode generates a movement of charges mainly in the tissues of the underlying area where the therapeutic action is also concentrated.

Indications: initial phase of treatment | superficial therapeutic action | treatment of soft and hydrated fabrics.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound equipment is equipped with a transducer (handpiece) which contains a quartz crystal and which is the tool that the therapist uses to perform the therapy. When the handpiece is put into operation, the quartz crystal oscillates and produces sound waves that are transmitted, through the skin, to the human body.

The main effects of ultrasound:

  • heat production in the affected area

  • increased blood flow and improved circulation

  • activation of metabolism

  • recovery of elasticity in tendons and in fibrous and scar tissue

  • reduction of swelling and chronic inflammation states

  • reduction of irritation to the nerve roots

  • reduction of muscle spasms. Ultrasound also produces a gentle massage on muscles and tendons, promoting relaxation and recovery from injuries.

It offers almost immediate pain relief for many people.

Ultrasound therapy has gained widespread acclaim among sports medicine specialists as an effective method in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and other conditions such as back pain, muscle spasms, bursitis and tendonitis.

Ultrasound is also used to restore elasticity to scars and fibrous formations.
